Not obsessions as in, "That picture frame is not straight, I need to fix it." I'm not talking about obsessive-compulsive disorder. I have had a total of 8 obsessions, 3 major and obtrusive and the others small and fleeting. I become obsessed with something (people, bands, characters), and I think about it often and get very strong feelings when I do. Is there an illness that could cause these?

In the absence of obsessive-compulsive disorder, probably not.

Obsessions are fairly common. The strong feelings associated with them are common too. These feelings would only be a problem if they interfere with your day-to-day living, or you feel compelled to harm or stalk the objects of your obsession.

If your obsessions include intrusive thoughts that you have difficulty controlling to the point where they interfere with your life, then you may indeed be suffering from a condition that needs professional help.

Hope that helps. :)

Sorry, but that's really not enough information to go on. If you are finding this process interferes with your life or relationships, then consult your doctor or a reputable licensed mental health professional.

this may be some sort of mental disorder. maybe you should be tested to see if you have a chemical imbalance.
