im totally with you on this one. people need to realize that it is totally necessary for us to stay over there so that the country can be rebuilt. people need to look back in history. look at germany. they used to be the evil bad guys, then we took over there country, stayed over there for a LONG LONG time and look what happened, we caused culture change, we made a difference, but it took time, it didnt happen in a few months. another thing to think about for all the anti war people. think about new york city and the crime rate in it. the police are constantly fighting crime and crime is something that will never go away, like terrorism. so should the NYPD just pull out and say screw it, we cant win this so lets just stop trying"?

The question is not whether Iraq will degenerate into a civil war after we leave, the real question is whether there already is a relatively low intensity civil war being fought. As Al-Qaeda is a Sunni organization (using the term loosely), it is extremely unlikely that Iraq would become some newer incarnation of Afghanistan under the Taliban. There would be a danger of it (Iraq) becoming an Iranian satellite of sorts. It is a mess anyway one looks at it and it gives the impression that it is not a good idea to invade a country for no clear reason and with no real plan for what to do afterwards. The choices we have are all bad. Innocent people are already dying by the thousands, the question ultimately is how many of our soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen are we willing to sacrifice in a war that holds little prospect for achieving the goals set for it.

Technically they have a Civil War already. The only difference is that the resistance also has the added benifit of killing U.S. troops along with the civillians they kill.
As far as Osama moving in and start planning new attacks, don't think for one second that he needs to move from where he is at now to plan attacks. He and his people are most assuredly doing that as we speak.
Now, as far as us leaving Iraq, sadly we can't. Bush and the U.S. are now up their elbows in crap, which is what happens when a war turns out like it did. Most people thought (Bush too I am sure) that we would have another Desert Storm. Invade, they would surrender and we would have a new government without Saddam in a matter of a few months. As you know, that didn't happen. They fought back this time. And, they keep on fighting. But they turned it into a Guerilla war, removing their uniforms and hiding among the civillians. We are sadly going to be in Iraq for another year if not more. Even if U.N. troops move in to take over, we will have our troops still there, whether you hear about it or not.
(Don't forget the troops we have in Afghanistan, they were in there before we invaded Iraq, and nobody seems to want them to come home....)

How old are u kid? Don't u listen to the news? Iraq is already beyond fixing and your president already lost control of it. He is so arrogant and a moron like you to admit anything wrong. So u are basically advocating our innocent troops dying for some Fanatic Muslims as their PM, Mr. Al-Maliki who kisses Ayatollahs hand for blessing, pro Hezbollah & anti Israel? A democracy in Iraq? what a joke Bush! Al-Qaeda Party has mostly Sunni members who don't get along with Iraqis Shiit (83%). So don't worry about Al-Qaeda taken over Iraq..OK? Don't worry about Bin Laden attacking us next time. Worry about our government if they can protect us from terrorists....your government failed you kido....admit it. OK? Also, you should worry about Iran will take over Iraq if we leave. If Iran occupies Iraq, I think it is for our benefit. In this case, we will have an excuse to invade Iran, destroy it and take over the whole country, including its OIL. But Bush is not smart enough to think clearly.

your question assumes that in staying in iraq, innocent lives will not be lost.
i hope you are right, but i have no idea why you believe that.
if we left iraq, we would definitely not be jeopardizing our soldiers lives like we are now. i am interested in fighting battles we can win. if we stay in iraq but don't help to stabilize it or keep innocent civilians safe, then we have gambled with another nation's future. we only have a right to our own.
there is a decision to be made, but there is very little certainty to base that decision on. terrorists may take over iraq if we leave, but what burdens are we taking on if we stay? do you ever have a right to say, this is more than i can bear?

They are already having a civil war in Iraq. But you are right, the benefits would be limited, perhaps the only way it would benefit America if we just left, would be that American soldiers would stop dying.

The plan is to give Iraq back to Iraq as soon as possible, not hold on to it so GW Bush and Dick Cheney's pals can make more money.

Do you think Bin Laden needs Iraq to have room to plan? You're the idiot. You're also too dumb to waste any further explanations on.
