listen when a person becomes a Christian and still drinks wine in moderation or smokes tobacco in moderation that does not make them a bad person it just means it's not Gods time to for that person to stop because I know pastors that drinks wine in moderation or smokes tobacco in moderation and you are right we are not saved by works but the way we believe.

Question for Southern Religious (Good, he's not jumping on Christians!) People?
I'm born again (Praise, GOD!) and I believe in God and God's word.
What makes some of you southern religious people better than others just because you don't drink wine in moderation or smoke tobacco in moderation (where in God's Word does it mention smoking tobacco?)?
It's absolutely fine if you don't but it's when you become very unaccepting to others that do it.
( 1. In Romans 14:13, Paul tells the believers at Rome to make a deliberate effort to judge themselves to see if any thing they did would put a stumbling block in a brothers way.)
God loves us all. (Do you not know, that your body is the temple of God? 1I appeal to you therefore, brothers,by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, (alcohol/smoking) but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.) We are not saved by works (Faith without works is dead) but the way we believe. So, some of you southern religious (as long as you are not referring to Christians) people can go load up on the pop and cake and be in a bad mood most of the time. And also make yourself look better for putting down what other people do that ( 1."But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak." (1 Cor. 8:9))is not against the word of God. (Check again, home-boy!)

A lot of religious dogma stems from how a person is raised. I am a Southern Christian and I find no fault in haveing a glass of wine or two if I choose as long as I do not let myself get out of control. All things in moderations, I believe is what the bible teaches. No one should put down anyone else in the faith just because they have a drink or two or smoke an occasional bit of tobacco. I think the key word in all of it is moderation. You should be in control of the substance....not let the substance control you.

I live in rural Mississippi and I am religious. I don't think that I am better than anyone. I say that we are all responsible for our actions. I think there is nothing wrong with wine in moderation or smoking if that is what you want to do. I do believe that His word says that he that is without sin may cast the first stone. That excludes me. I am just like you... a born again believer... but not perfect. Sorry some southerners have or are giving you a hard time.
And as far as we are all bigots... not all of us are.

first of all, only the alcohol in the bible talks of taking in moderation, not the tobacco. and the Bible doesn't not to judge others, but that if we judge others we will be held to the same standard of judgement. so along the 'wine' part, i think it is ok even suggested for ailments by the Bible. the tobacco thing is a different story. when you inhale cigarette smoke, you are destroying the temple of the Holy Spirit. i know that there are other means that we all do this but sticking to your question, you are destroying the temple by CHOICE and affecting others around you if your in a public venue and destroying there temples.
and that is not to say i am better than you overall, just in the area of tobacco usage if you use tobacco.

Its not because they abstain from alcohol and tobacco. the bible even says to "take a little wine for thy stomach's sake" and you know the story of Jesus turning the water into wine at a wedding in Cana.
its the excessive use of alcohol and tobacco they' are against because they believe that your body is the "temple of the Holy Spirit" and you should do no0thing to harm it.

You smoke wine and drink tobacco? [in moderation, of course]
I think you better go back and check out that 'god' you got, 'cause someone is pullin' the wool over ya'lls eyes!
Proverbs 20:1 (KJV)
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Umm, this needs to be directed to MOST religious people. And you're absolutly right- it's not WHAT you believe, it's just that you HAVE faith. Well, unless you go around killing and raping people, and that's not the same as smoking and drinking....
