I own the original one and I think it works great but I've never heard of the ultra straightening one before and it's not on the Farouk Systems' web site. If it's not called "Chi Utra Straightening" maybe you can find what you are looking for under a different product name.

depends, you want one that has "shocks" or suspension in the plates so they move a little bit, also the heating element should never drop in temp.Currently these type of "progressive irons" run $200-300 bucks. Look for "Paul Mitchell" and " ghd ", I have worked with both and they prove to be better in several ways.
