My husband does for EVERY female, regardless of age. And we have taught our sons to do the same. When my daughter-in-law complained to me once that my son was no longer opening/holding doors open for her, I told her to simply stand there until he DID-to NOT open it herself. Especially if they were "out". If that didn't give him the hint, maybe it would embarrass him enough to remember his manners! Graciousness is appreciated by all. It is NOT being old fashioned, it is just polite!

Not everyone does, but there are still quite a few men out there who will hold a door.
I get at least 1 every day I go out.
I don't think that this should just be left up to men though. I hold doors open for everyone who is coming or going at the same time as me. It's just the polite thing to do.

I love it when a man holds the door open for me. But I also hold the door open for anyone who is close behind me. It's just common courtesy.
