Rubbing alcohol works or an anti-itch cream. I'm not sure where you live, but there is a plant called Jewel Weed that grows in the eastern US that works great on itching. Just break the stem and rub the liquid inside on your insect bite. Baking soda and water paste will also help.

Ammonia, but make sure that you get the kind that doesn't create suds. A friend told me about how she learned about it when she was bitten by fire ants. The ammonia took out the pain. I have used it many times since then and it works great. Just dab on a small amount with a cotton ball.
