Anyone who believes in God should fear Him in the way that we wouldnt do certain things in front of our parents cause we dont want to hurt their feelings, or be punished or whatever. Its a respect thing. Christians dont have to fear hell and God gives mercy to those who confess and repent of their sin (proverbs 28) . How much or how little i dont know. But God also said that we can be sure that our sin will find us out.

As I understand the "fear of God" in the bible is has mostly to do with an awareness that God is always present and watching what we do. I think that there is an aspect of genuine fear, seen in passages such as Hebrews 10 - 12 but there is more to it than that. The term a "God fearing" man used up until the middle of the last century had a conotation of someone who was trustworthy because they understood that God would judge them. In Romans 2 God's summary of the natural man is the there is no fear of God before him, implying there is nothing that that ungodly man wouldn't do, given the chance.

The fear of God is the fear of taking your life into your own hands and doing whatever you deem right. It is the fear to act without resting in God's law and boudaries. It is the love that holds you in place and causes you to look for what is just and right.
A son would fear his Father not because of physical punishment, which is what most Christians believe their fear should be based on, but fear of dissapointing or hurting the one they love. It is more involved with a love relationship than it is in Fire and Brimstone as many Christians would have you believe. These Christian will beat their children into submission and call it love. It is not unless the child is being saved from physical death which they are not in our society.
The Christians and those that claim they follow Him shold fear him the most.

Fear of God is being scared to disobey him. Because his punishments are just.
If fear of God is the only thing keeping me from killing my neighbor, raping his wife, and selling his kids into slavery, it's pretty damn good thing I have that fear than isn't it?
Fear of God might save us from making stupid mistakes. Like getting a girl pregnant or catching an STD.
Eventually you come to know that fear. Because what God tells you is the truth. Live by God's law, the law of love, and you will not have to fear anything else. You will love him, you will love his law. Because it will keep you alive, and it will keep you safe, and it will make your life better. For you AND those around you.

The phrase "fear of the Lord" has a wide range of meaning. One meaning is that we should be afraid to do evil since it can literally mean "to be afraid of the Lord." The Hebrew word for "fear," YARE, means "to be fearful or afraid." Proverbs 14:26 expresses it positively.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil . . .Prov. 8:13
Now then let the fear of the LORD be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the LORD our God will have no part in unrighteousness, or partiality, or the taking of a bribe. 2 Chron. 19:7
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Therefore knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences. 2 Cor. 5:10-11
This is where we all started. We feared God because of our sin. When should we fear God? When we are in sin! The result of a holy walk with God is strong confidence, protection, and great spiritual depth.
In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death. Prov. 14:26-27
We should always fear God because the fear of God is to pursue holiness - to be like Him!
To Honor God. But a fuller meaning of "fear of the Lord" includes the idea of loving God, wanting to know Him and please Him.

I think everyone should fear god, because the powers that god possesses is unknown to mankind.
The people that thinks that they're invincible I think should fear god the most.
They tend to do things thinking that there are no consequences, and they're hallucinating.

fear of God isnt like being afraid of him in a way youre afraid of say a snake or something. its like being afraid of your parents - youre afraid becuase you respect them and if you do something wrong you know youll get punished even tho they still love you. God is your heavenly father. you have to give him the utmost respect and fear him, but like any good dad he is also your best friend, someone who will NEVER leave you even when everyone elsehas done so. someone you can trust and always come to.

Fear of God means the fear of displeasing him. Like a loving father who gives us loving direction. He guides us through life.
We should appreciate that. Knowing that for disobedience we do die. See Eve never believed that she would die. But he really meant it and she did.
