In any kind of relationship... friendship, business relations, family relations, church relations, etc.... What it comes down to is how well you tolerate those folks you let into your life. It is sacrifice and tolerance. If it's your spouse then you might overlook a lot of his or her faults, but if your intolerant then you pick out all their faults and the relationship will suffer. In friendship, same thing, how much do you tolerate? How much will he or she tolerate from you? Are you the type who is in control or are you the give and take type. There has to be a balance and communication on both sides and certain liberties that you freely give each other outside your relationships. Allowing each other to grow in a relationship and having your own personal growth as individuals in personal achievements. I have 16 years with my Husband and still our lives are ever changing. We are different people than when we began. And I am ever so happy that we have changed through the years cause the experiences have brought us closer than what we were in the beginning.

My relationship has lasted 42 years . We met in 1965 & we have been together since. We have had high points & low points but have worked them out. It just takes work & understanding. I would not trade these 42 years for anything.

Nothing last for ever.....eventually you will get sick of each other or one of you will die...you will run out of things to talk about and eventually stop caring about crap that has zero relevance and poof...relationship OVER so I will say 50 years - max! anything beyond that is just loveless crap being held together for the kids and fear of dying alone!
