(*existEnce)...
i think about this often, and lately i have come to this conclusion:
love itself does not exist.
there DOES exist:
1- compatibility, (sometimes is the only reason why people stay together)
2- passion (sincere enthusiasm towards a relationship)
3- spontaneity (which helps to keep the passion/interest alive)
4- attraction (component of both mental and physical "drawn-ness")
now, if you define love as a combination of these four things, then sure- love exists!
i do not believe that G-d has to exist for the definition (or idea) of love to make sense. i do believe that most the time, there is this unconditional love between mother and child, but in romantic-terms, it's obviously different. and of course there's friendship love, but that is only a medium level. how far would you really/honestly be willing to go for this person as opposed to someone that you are truly IN love with? it's just not as strong.
the english language does not provide us with different words for differing levels of love(there should be!), and i'm sure that that only adds to the confusion.
if you were to go to any person today to tell them that you liked them, if you said, "i love you" they might get the wrong idea. you'd have to say it in a context where they do something dumb and then you say in a somewhat pitiful tone, "aww i love you" and then maybe they wouldn't take it so seriously; or they might not consider that you care for them at all.
my dad once made me read this book, "the art of loving" by erich fromm. you should read it. i should reread it too actually... it's been years.
anyway, it is a hard concept to grasp because the Bible does say that "Love never ends" but if you truly did care for/love someone at one point in life, but that chapter is over, are you supposed to believe that you never actually did love them?
the whole thing could have a book written about it. and i just recommended it to you.

First of all since there is a God who exists and responds to us in a certain way, then love exists, for love is the certain way He responds to us. However, let us not get confused about love and God. As C.S. Lewis once wrote, "God is love, but love is not a god." In other words, love cannot exist unless their is a being who can offer it.
Secondly, love is not an emotion. Emotions are temporary and fleeting. No one is angry twenty four hours, seven days a week. No one is happy or serene in the same amount of time. They come and go. So, what is love? Love is a decision, a decision to acccept another fully. Now what makes love exist and eternal is that God who is existence itself and eternal decided on us before time and space. And He had never revoked that decision.
And so, this is the best I can come up with in such short a time. Wish I could say more, but I got to go.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

Love is caring and absolute acceptance of a person regardless of actions or change. I don't believe people experience this as often as claimed. Love is something truly special and unique. It only exists to those people who give it. I know it exists. However, I don't believe it can be compared with god. God created us and is all knowing. So he knows that he created people that will live and go to hell. Yet, he loves us all? Couldn't he have created us all with the personalities that would make it so we could go to heaven?

To me, love is everything and in everything. In the same way that God is in everything and is everything. Love and God to me are the same and both exist. Love is existence itself, we can deny it exists but in that same breath we would deny that we exist.
I don't think love is just an emotion or a feeling, or a chemical reaction in the brain that leads you to have sex for procreation. Love in the spiritual sense, is so much more than that - it is the unconditional acceptance of self and others without any prejudice or consequence, without cost or gift needed.
Love is.

Love is certainly devine.....its all around us and within us ..its the fuel that lights our fire!! Love exists just as hatred does...it comes from the depths of our inner soul! The Love we have for our Mother and Father is different than the Love we have for our Children and considerably different than the Love for Pizza... Love is not only a symbol but a strength that can build a bond to complete bliss!!!

Love is: A relationship absent of jealousy or envy; A state of harmony and honesty between people; A situation where mutual trust and respect exists.
The author, Robt. A. Heinlien said: "Love is the condition in which another person's happiness is essential to your own."

I feel sorry for both of you. I look at my son and grandson and see someone I would die for, kill for, someone who's wants and needs I put in front of my own.....of course it exists. Look for the good and try not to over analyze things...try living instead of spending all your time on the computer. I didn't mean that as harsh as it sounded...lol
