I'm throwin my daughter a b-day party on the 17th. (she will be 6) She wants to invite her kindergarten class. She also wants to have a Strawberry Shortcake theme. How do I make that theme ok for both genders? It's a girly theme, but I don't want to leave out boyz. Some of her best friends are boyz. How do I make that theme work where both the girls and botz will like it? And some of the boys will come?

I figured the whole class was ok, cause ther's only 17 kids, and not all of them will show up. Plus, it's a great way for her to know themm better and make new friends with school starting. She has never had a party this big, usually just 4 good frinds.

first off, spongebob was her theme last year, and I didn't want a repeat. second, the party is at a local park, I was just wanting ideas that will stick with the theme but boyz will enjoy(like goody bag ideas), something I can di with the boyz to include them.

Does she like any other characters? Maybe you could share the theme like have a Strawberry Shortcake cake and special items for her with that theme and then have grab bags, games, whatever with a Spongebob (or something like that, but who doesn't like Spongebob) theme. Sounds like fun...17 six year olds at your house! Good Luck!

No big deal. Boys have little sisters and will understand if there is a cute little girl on the cake and if the girl is on the plates.
Have games that are fun for both.
Musical chairs is a big hit until kids get in about the sixth grade. They absolutely love it and you can't go wrong.
Get red balloons for strawberries and have a relay race with the balloon between their knees.
Place five buckets in a row. Have the chidlren stand behind a line and try to throw strawberries in the bucket. The one who gets the most in wins a prize.
If you are still worried, make up a friend...strawberry shortcake's little brother Blueberry Bill or something like that.

Seems it's her "SPECIAL" day, I would go with the theme she wanted! You can just get her Strawberry Shortcake cake, and then have games and stuff for both genders like a pinata, pin the tail on the donkey..etc. You could do just plain red goodie bags, so it will still match, but won't be too girlie. Also, decorations could be red.
I've never had problems in the past when we've had both genders attending my son's birthday parties, and we've had batman, poke'mon, spiderman... etc. But, the cake really isn't a big deal, it's the other stuff like the games and stuff.

It is her party so go with strawberry shortcake. The boys won't care what type of plate the food is on as long as there is food. Maybe do a boy lolly bag but other than that go all the way with strawberry shortcake. It is her idea and that is what she will remember. They boys just want food and prizes. I'm sure you have gone to one of these boys parties and it is an "all boy" theme. Don't stress and just do what your daughter wants. Just do a boy lolly bag and they will be happy. My son has come home with many a girly lolly bag and hasn't cared (it was what was in it he was after)though

You can keep it Strawberry Shortcake, but play up the little pets that go with it (the dog, cat, whatever). The other thing that I did with my daughter was keep the theme girlie, but put cars or Spongebob favors in the boys goodie bags.

Could have a video game tournament for the boys. all i can really think of beacuse Strawberry Shortcake is a girl theme and theres not many ways to make it good for both genders. But maybe the boys wont care about the theme, they might even like straberry shortcakes 8| (probly not but they might) Maybe try female stripers =o j/k j/k

You could stick with the theme but in the goodie bags for the boys put a hot wheels in there and a package of crayons and whistles. Isn't there a couple of boys in the Strawberry Short cake series (there was when I was a kid). Also you could put strawberry flavored suckers in there, they won't care it's candy.

A great idea to invite all her class. My son's did that, and they all got on famously.
You may have to have a dual theme though, I can't imagine the boys being too impressed. How about Spongebob?

If it's at the park the boys will play ball or something. Plus, ask your daughter it you can stick in another theme for them.

Boys usually sit together and act like boys. The girls usually do the same. I don't think they'll be any problem with the theme. It will work itself out.
