Take your grandmother with you the next time you need to get your hair done. After that she might be more likely to want to go back, especially since she would be spending more time with her now favorite granddaughter.
Just because she is older doesn't mean that she has to have the typical hairstyle. Have the stylist look at her face shape, texture, and thickness and then decide what would be the best and easiest style for your grandmother to maintain at home. You also want to ask for something more versatile. That way your grandmother has more options to style her hair at home. Get the right products for her hair as well- if her hair is extremely thick then get either Redken's Smooth Down Products or Redken's All Soft products
i have seen amazing results from these 2 lines.
only get them in a salon otherwise you really don't know what you're getting (product could be watered down if not bought in a salon)
good luck and hope i've helped

I would do exactly the same thing as the woman who lives just round the corner from me who has got two black poodles and three white poodles and lives next door to a policeman who has got an aunty who lives next door to a man with no hair at all but his wifes uncle used to have hair all down his back and he never used to use punctuation marks like full stops and commas either

Give her a treat and pay for her to see a professional. Make an appointment with a stylist you think grandma would like and let the stylist do the rest.

why hasn't she been going to the hairdresser's? treat her to a nice afternoon at a good salon i'd say. if you want to do it yourself, how about sitting your grandma down in front of a mirror and just experiment with different styles?

use some straightening products, a flat iron, and that should help, but women want thick hair, right? maybe pull it back, not up? it's just a guess
