It is very unlikely that Economic Sanctions will happen or that sanctions will stop Iran's Doomsday Program. (the fanatical religious leadership of Iran believes it is their Islamic Duty to destroy Israel and start World War against America and the western world. In doing so, they believe their Islamic Savior, Iman Mahdi, will return to defeat the western "Infidels" and judge the world).
If President Bush launches a massive Air Strike against Iran between March and May 2006, events in the Mid East could very quickly spin out of control and trigger W.W.III as 1) Iran and Syria retaliate with a one million man attack against USA Forces in Iraq, 2) as Russia comes to the Military Aid of Iran, 3) The Dome of the Rock Mosque (Jerusalem) is detonated, 4) Moslems declare a HOLY WAR against Israel, 5) as a Nuclear Confrontation builds between USA and Russia; and China invades Taiwan and Japan...
This would lead to the First of Two Rapture Events (for The Faithful Remnant) and the Start of The Tribulation as Antichrist is revealed as "Messiah", as The Savior of the world.
One fact is for sure: Iran is heading towards a Military Confrontation with The USA between (2006 and 2008).

You are right that sanctions are a waste of time against Iran. Russia, China and France (among others) will ignore them just as they illegally traded with Saddam and are helping arm terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas. You are totally right about the insanity of the Iranian leaders and the idea they want to bring about the return of the hidden imam.

Where you been? World War III has been going on for some time. Well, the way you define it anyway. But really there's been one long struggle going on since the eary 20th century. World War I never really ended properly - the accords that ended it guaranteed the oppressed German people would be forced to do something about the unfair terms that were placed on them by the victors. World War II was the result, merely a continuation of the last war with a strategic pause inserted. World War II morphed into the Cold War, which was mostly a struggle of ideas & technology with occasional skirmishes around the globe. The failure to properly allow different peoples to draw their own borders (Europe, Africa, South Asia, Middle East) led to more conflict throughout the period and the rise of militant Islam, which also occurred because the last time it emerged it wasn't dealt with properly.

Iran and North Korea, the remaining named members of the "Axis of Evil", would like nothing more than to incite an attack by the US. Thogh Germany just elected a somewhat more pro-US leader, France is still lead by a nationalistic, America-hating leftist who is angry he no longer is getting large bribes from Saddam Hussein and who would love to see us decline in world influence. France's leadership never got over losing their spot as a dominant world power and are doing all they can to weaken US influence without thinking of the dire world consequences that will follow.

I think you're a bit too stuck on the extremist idea that the end of the world is near - people have basically been making that clam for over 2000 years now. I've been hearing that the tribulation and the end of days would arrive any day now myself for over 10 years.

I got news for you - Moslems declared Holy War against Israel back in the 1948 when Israel was created. I hope Iran and Syria do attack us with a million - that will be a million less potential terrorists the world has to deal with later and will help resolve things in the long run. Clinton should have done the job on Iraq before and quite possibly should have properly dealt with Iran, Syria and North Korea as well. Of course as you imply any overt attack on North Korea will likely draw in the Chinese, but Clinton got Carter to negotiate a deal with North Korea where we propped them up and paid them to develop nukes and delivery systems they are now openly saying they will use to nuke our west coast cities.

Really, you are taking the Bible far too literally. Plus your interpretation is one of many I've heard and though I understand you must believe it, I tell you you are confused. The Bible wasn't meant to be taken the way you are taking it. Don't you hope I'm right and you're wrong, at least a little?

And in response to what damndirtytape212 (or whatever) said, if you look at the photos of the French entering Lebannon in their UN vehicles you will clearly see they are flying WHITE FLAGS so you're TOO LATE the FRENCH have ALREADY SURRENDERED AGAIN preemtpively as they haven't even faced conflict yet, but that's the French for ya'!

Probably not.

As long as the fighting can be confined to the US, France, England, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, and Turkey (whew!), then it will only be a regional war.

But if Pakistan, China or North Korea get directly involved military, then it's worth calling a World War.

I feel it coming with the Islamic extremists in the Middle East and so do alot of other people but I'm not in a hurry for it to get here millions of people will die and the affects of this war will be real bad parts of our planet will be so devastated people won't be able to live there anymore for god knows how long nuclear winter, affects of chemical and biological weapons *sigh*.

We won't have a choice but to fight if we don't want to live in a World under the thumb of the Mulla's who would impose a strict form Taliban style Islam on all of us if they win the coming war.

I assume you meant March to May 2007.....Well, I think we need to gather the few other nations with brains and heart and form a stronger alliance than we have had in the future....most of our "allies" are just ******* who give right answer as they sell arms to our enemies and such.....With a strong enough alliance we could hit Iran, Syria and North Korea all at once......they are all dangerous countries rules by tyrannical, psychotic leaders who will cause nothing but destruction and devastation to democratic nations given the chance. The UN is useless.

There might be another world wide war - but it will be nothing like the first 2.

I doubt it will come to that because the major players already know the outcome of a fullscale nuke war. Not good.

World War III has been going on for 10-years but getting recognition now. What worries me more is the internal war in our own country. I am worried we cannot fight the elements in our own country while holding back a full blown WWIII.

The problem in America is that we are losing our identity, our customs, our traditions and our self-respect. We have succombed to the wishes of all the radicals in the US. Gays want to have same life as traditional families; criminals have more rights then victims; English cannot even be considered the language of our land; non-citizens demonstrating against our way of life in OUR country; Islamic thugs and killers picketing in New York saying they are going to kill us and passersbys stare at them and do nothing, not to mention the police (I thought we had laws against "hate"); politicans pandering for votes while risking our safety with open borders; illegal aliens from Mexico marching in the streets threatening us; movements taking place in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California among radical Mexican nationals living here to forcefully take these states back for Mexico (sounds silly, but remember this day); European countries forgetting that we saved their countries with American lives. etc, etc.

Still, we are a free couintry where all these things can take place. Free speech has become hate speech; protests have become anarchists' threats; illegals changing the face of our cities. Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Lebanon, Syria...now these are problems. But, yes, we are suffering here in America. We have become so politcally correct that even the words make me nauseous. If you don't stand for something then you will fall for anything, so don't be a sheep. Let's regain our pride and stop pandering to the minority of radicals in this country. Maybe WWIII will be fought in the rest of the world, I hope so. But, we should be careful not to take the lead any more in saving the world from itself.

Or how about this; "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good 'ole' boys". We will never "interfere" again.

We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East. They don't want us there anyway. We would then station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! We should also send back the 1 million plus of the Mexican illegals in our prisons. France will welcome them.

All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available
to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing non polluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while, I really don't think the caribou care!

Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else and if we can't find it someplace else, we park our cars until they come arround. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites should be enough.)

If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to their armies. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens. Now that is a prison.

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?'

The War has already begun, however, I think you discount or underappreciate the value of commerce to the Russians and Chinese. They don't want to rock the boat when it comes to those nations and economies that purchase their raw and finished goods (respectively). Both countries need severe infusions of cash for their natural and manufactured resources in order to support large populations. Going around and pointing guns at your customers is not smart business. Russia and China may support Iran to an extent in order to serve as a balance against the U.S. diplomatically, but in the case of China, they are very reliant on the US consumer to fuel their white hot growth of late. Not even Iran is more important than the almighty dollar (or yuan or whatever they call it these days). I don't think secular Russia or communist China has significantly deep ties to supporting an extreme Muslim state in Iran. They use Iran as a counterbalance to U.S. influence, until they can no longer resist such influence. India and Pakistan are more than ready to throw their lot in with the U.S. on a regional defense plan, and Iran becomes an important chess piece for Russia and China to counter the regional influence the U.S. has.

Iran and Syria know if they 'pincer' move on U.S. forces in Iraq, they would be met with increased forces from the UK and Australia, as well as a likely Turkish embargo on Syria and an Israeli blockade preventing Syria from getting anything but the weather into the country. Assad is on one of his last legs, there will be regime change in Syria before any other nation in the region.

Russia already comes to the military aid of Iran, that's the problem, but Bush nor Cheney are shy when it comes to countering Putin's more KGB-istic moves.

Nothing will happen to the Temple/Dome of the Rock, there is too much shared history for Jews and Muslims there, it will probably dilapidate if not cared for, but no explosive destruction as you indicate.

Muslims have a declared war currently against Israel, it's hundreds of years old.

Whether we like it or not, China would be allowed to absorb Taiwan before the U.S. goes picking a fight with the Chinese. We love their TV's and DVR's too much to let a small self-sufficient island get in the way of a Beijing/Washington love fest. The Russians don't even know where most of their nukes are, and they haven't done adequate viability testing on current nuclear armaments in awhile I'd imagine. Russians would facilitate nuclear weapons use by a third party (Iran or N. Korea) if and only if they felt that the U.S. would impede its interest in Iran (they asked for the honoring of Saddam-signed contracts prior to the Iraq invasion and I believe some if not most were honored). It all comes down to money, and a world nuclear war takes away everyone's ability to make money. So that alone is a deterrent for Russia and China. If/when China invades Japan, it will be the longest war China will ever enter. The Japanese required TWO nukes to even get them to the bargaining table. China's not about to go nuclear in its own backyard, and will likely never strive for hegemony over Japan so long as the U.S. is around. I don't know what would happen to the Koreas though.

I think Iran is desirous of a military confrontation to solidify its extremist base in Iran and in the greater Muslim region. The U.S. is aware of that, and therefore is taking careful steps to appear fair and patient with Iran. But that can only last so long. Anyway, the Saudis, Kuwaitis and Emiratis all despise Iran and would do all they could to wrest control of Iran from the ayatollahs.

I think that Iran's leaders are overestimating popular support for a proactive attack/confrontation with the U.S. They may or may not develop or use nukes, but they will agitate in order to make the U.S. look like the aggressor (to only the dopes who really believe the U.S. is an aggressor). Their long-term strategy is to influence all of Islam, globally. Problem is Sunnis hate Shi'ites about as much as they hate U.S. GI's right now. So bringing unity across sects will be an impossible and expensive folly for Iran, one which will compromise their position in defending a potential U.S. attack. I think their nuclear aspirations are more defensive (given the status of things in Islamabad, New Delhi and Kabul) and a response to U.S. expansion in the area, more than anything else.

This world war will take years to fight, but it will change the world, for the better, and will free up time and fighting resources to move the world technologically and positively ahead.

There will not be a World War lll --

18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Satan's Doom --

7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.
