I've learned from throwing 18 birthday parties between my 2 sons, that candy is not always a good idea. A few pieces is okay, a couple of suckers, maybe some gum, ringpops are great, and fruit snacks; are about all the kids get from me as far as candy goes. For one, I don't want to have to corral a dozen 7 year olds hopped up on sugar; two most parents don't really appreciate the candy either, and three chances are they're getting cake and ice cream already, why add to it? As far as swag, I go with a few things that are from the birthday theme, the goodie bags themselves for instance, or whistles or something of that nature. Then I stock up on all kinds of other cheap party favors. A couple of favorites have been the little bottles of bubbles (the kind they give out at weddings) and those party popper things (only a good idea with older kids though.) For my younger son's summer party the kids get squirt guns and sunglasses, for my older son's fall party the kids get pretty much everything Halloween themed (his birthday is on Halloween.) Pencils and erasers are great, super balls, cheesey plastic jewelry for the girls, any kind of noise maker is always a hit, and little tablets of paper. I tell the kids they can write a story about the birthday party if they want. Those are about all the things I've used in the past that have worked. One more thing you have to think of is that not all of those kids will attend unless you're having this party during school hours. So you might want parents to RSVP, or buy enough stuff for all the kids, but don't open it until they all get there and then you can hand out swag. Just a thought. Have fun!!

I have a 9 year old and have thrown several parties. Your first stop can be Party City; they have almost everything for all types of parties and ages. Also you can have the children make up there own party bag. Get 2 or 3 bags of the biggest bag of candy, a pinata' (a must), age and gender appropriate toys; all @ Party City. Fill the pinata' with some of the above items let the children go!! the remainder can be used as prizes from the games that will be played. Each item that the child will get have them place it in the bag. Have mommy or daddy hold the bag; less confusion with the other children. by doing this the children will have what they like and all you have to do is clean up. Make sure you take a picture of each child with or without your daughter. pick up some pop-sickle sticks, glue, crayons, etc. Have the children design the sticks as their own and make a picture frame. Once you develop the pictures send it to the child in the picture frame with a small thank you!

Yeah, the dollar tree or if you have a Deals are good places to go for party favors. I'd get stuff like candy, little bouncy balls, funny glasses, noise makers, bubbles, or you could get like pencils, erasers, and stuff like that they could use in class, if you are taking the goodie bags into school. I'd just keep it cheap and simple with the goodie bags though.
Seems from past expirences with goodie bags half the stuff will be left, and lost before the kids even leave the party!

Instead of filling up goody bags to hand out at the end of the party try this instead.
Blow up balloons with different colored construction paper inside each one. About every 15 minutes or so blow a whistle and the kids have to run, grab a balloon and pop it.
The construction paper will determine which prize that person will receive. (Blue construction paper, prize from the blue bowl) They get to fill their own goody bags and it takes up some party time.
Make sure all balloon pieces are picked up. This could pose as a choking hazard.

It's getting quite fashionable to give a charity goody bag. That means you give the money to a charity instead, they get a picture of the cause they are helping, and just a piece of cake. Perhaps chose a local children's charity, or wildlife. The bags always seemed such poor value to me, and do they actually need a couple of trinkets?.

How approximately getting some wonderful luggage on the dollar save. For the candies you may desire to flow to social gathering packagers or another social gathering supply save and get makeup like eyeshadow, or you may get like mini nail polish. nevertheless how approximately little bubble makers! additionally incorporate a thank you card for coming on your social gathering, and fill the bag with candy, like lolly pops, gum, annoying candies, and your faves! good success =)
