Because of the sugar content.. .The regular has quite a bit of sugar and makes the can more dense. The artificial sweetner in diet makes the can lighter (less dense) and ables it to float

Look carefully at how many grams of sugar each can has. You'll see that in a diet Coke, there is less sugar, and in regular, there's more. A science professor actually explained this to students at a science show. Hope this helps.

its all approximately density. The density of the intense Fructose Corn syrup that flavors conventional coke is extra dense then the synthetic sweetner in weight loss software coke. This density distinction make the comparable volume of regualr coke to be heavier and sink.

Because diet coke is lighter then water while regular coke is heavier then water....duhhh!!!, but what's the reason behind that, probably the sugar content.
