My mom always taught our dogs to 'play dead' when we were kids..she got down in the floor with them, and gently forced them on to their side..stroking and cuddling...then, she put her hands over their eyes and gave the command...she made it such fun for them, that they loved it! It only took a couple of days to teach it..

well u have to start teaching the dog to lay down then u teach it to stay still so he or she looks dead

Shoot it, give it a treat...and tell him good boy! I taught mine the trick by making my hand look like a gun, said "Bang", and then gave him the command to lay down. As soon as he did, i would praise him, sometimes give him a treat. After doing this over and over...about 15 times, he layed down on his own, and now...I say "Bang" and he falls down. Just keep praising him/her for doing right, and don't burn them out. Only work on it for ten minutes at a time or they will get bored.

Tell the dog to lay down and be quiet and do not move.
