The Bible says the angel Gabriel went to a virgin "whose name was Mary". She also referred to herself as a humble servant girl. She was a poor girl whose social prestige was nonexistent. Mary may have been a royal title at one point, but it eventually became a common name. There were many women named Mary in the time of Jesus - none of them with royal heritage. Mary Magdalene and the sister of Lazarus are two examples.

Mary, or Maryam in it's original Aramaic, meaning "bitter" has no proven relaevance to the existance of the Christ. Her Mother was St. Anne equally of no absolute significance in a Royal line, merely a coincidence? Or a Masonic joke?

Where did you hear that Mary was a royal title? That doesn't sound right to me. It was a common name that was used by people who didn't have a royal heritage.
