The carbonation is generally released as the beer comes out of the tap. This will cause a bit of a flatter taste from a keg, but the "quality" of the beer won't diminish unless it is left to stand half empty for extended periods of time.

On the contrary, the sediments in beer settle to the bottom of the keg and they enrich the beer as it gets less and less in the keg. That's why it is best to tap the keg from the bottom.

It can do if its filled with air.
It should remain presurrised with CO2, you can get these capsules and valves from any home brew shop.
Keg beer does vary as the empties but it is really to do with the lack of pressure and air contact over time, rather than hw far down the barrel you are.
The alternative is to trust nature and drink real ales. They are much more alive with taste.

No, keg beer is crap from top to bottom. It's cask beer that you shouldn't drink at the bottom because of the yeast sediment.

yes, if you're using air to push it thru the tap (like with a pump-action tap)
air has oxygen, oxygen oxidizes the beer, making it taste like ****... also the carbonation will decrease if you're not using co2 like a real tap system, so the last bit of the beer will be flat and oxidized.. not good stuff.

not if it has been drunk fairly quickly.
its the air getting in makes the beer gradually go sour.
so drnk it quickly, or get friends round.
