I think it is awful that churches don't have to pay taxes. What are they if not a business dealing out faith and ceremony?

Sorry to hear that you hate those signs, but to each there own. Most churchs if not all of them don't pay taxes. But I wouldn't think that your paying taxes on that sign they are putting their adds on. If you buy a sign and l came to you to put a add on it, I'm the one that pays the taxes on that, not you or anyone else. Much like if you buy a poster in a store, you are the one that pays the taxes, not the person behind you are anyone else.
So when that person puts the add on that sign and it is a church that does it, they do pay for the add but your right, there is no taxes added to it.
But to answer your question, no those signs don't bother me. Oh also, the person who pays the electricity is the person who owns the sign, not you or me.
Have a Great Day!

As most of the information is just copied from each other and has no originality, I find it somewhat a waste of time. If it is used to give Mass times, languages the Mass is in and notification of special events I think that is a good use.
And if you want to get your nickel's worth of electricity, go inside and enjoy their air conditioning. They won't charge you for it.

I wouldn't say I hate them simply because I do find some humor in finding the lack of logic in these signs and it gives me a laugh each time I pass them.
I do think that it's ludicrous for a government based on "freedom of religion" to print "In God We Trust" on our money, and also, I've noticed that the post office is also using an "In God We Trust" stamp on some of the mail. Outrageous!

Non-profit organizations in the US are not taxed.
If a church owns a for-profit business, then that portion of the church's property IS taxable.
I think it is sort of bizarre that you are so obsessed with Christianity you can't even drive by a church without reading those little signs.

I saw one once that read "GOD HAS HIS EYE ON THE QUEER GUY" and I had to wonder, How do they know what God likes to watch on television?
But seriously...I think the signs are just fine. It's freedom of expression, and every once in a while you'll see a message that actually says something quite profound.

Hey, if that's the biggest problem you have in your life to worry about, you're pretty well off indeed.
I'm not a big fan of the signs since a lot of 'em seem kind of dumb, but more power to 'em if that's what they want to do. And by them not paying taxes, you're not paying for their expenses, silly.

I'm a christian and I still think those sayings are ridiculous and counter-productive. If you believe in God, please stop trying to advertise for him on little signs and bumper stickers. He's not a sales pitch.
