Where did you have it? Do you know how to prepare it? Do you have any story associated with it? I have pre-ordered some for this Thursday. How do I know when I should call 911?

I've heard that in Japan if you die eating fugu, the chef who prepared it has to commit suicide. Hope that makes you feel better.

Any good fish market should have it, but be very careful. Since fugu's poison can lead to instantaneous deaths of diners, only licensed cooks are allowed to prepare fugu. You must have special skills and knowledge about fugu to be licensed. Poisonous parts of fugu differ, depending on the kind of fugu. Because of the strict regulations, the number of deaths is decreasing. http://japanesefood.about.com/cs/seafood...

I agree with Sam21462; I try to avoid eating things that have the potential to kill me.

The only delicacy I've ever feasted on was a fish taco. It is considered to be a delicacy here in Southern California (mainly San Diego). And fish tacos can be bad for you because they pack a whollop of calories and fat. So eat sparingly.

When I had it years ago, I remember that it was pretty bland. IIRC, I think it was prepared sashimi-style, uncooked.

A thinly sliced filet. White flesh. Texture was soft. Not very distinctive - wasabi on the side gave it some flavor.

I think people have it just say they've tried it.
