My friends can't lick their own genitals.... not sure whether that makes them better or not!

My dog is my best friend... we've shared eleven years and now we live alone and family are gone... so, I reward her loyalty of years, with determination to be here for her, until the end.
And despite the negative responses and the sick ones in here, I know exactly where you're coming from on this question... and sometimes, though I love all people, I admit, when those you love the most, only seem to borrow, beg or steal... and stand in judgement... I agree, even I am forced to thinking, pretty much the same when the front door closes and it's just me and my best mate... and inner peace and household harmony reins again:-)

I can sympathize with your statement though I do not personally share it. Why? Well, I've experienced good and bad from dogs as well as humans. My first traumatic memory was of a German Shepherd killing my dad's Border Collie. I know that a person was responsible but I also hated that dog too.
I'd rather have the blessing of being with people as well as with dogs (or cats or other animals...pets). Yes, people let us down, as we let them down too. Nobody and no animal is perfect.
You can have relationships with people more easily than with dogs; the main burden with animals is being able to care for their needs and afford their keep. Usually, people do not need as much of us as dogs or animals do; that is both good and not so good.
I am glad that we have animals to share our lives with; my mom has had three wonderful dogs in a row; all were/are Boxers and all had/have a wonderful personality and were/are very gentle and playful.

Dogs are the most loving creatures on the face of this
earth, why they "love" some people is a mystey to me
People can be back stabbing and unreliable, and
some of them teach dogs to be mean, so yes, be
ware of people, but love a poodle!

Actually, the more I know people, the more I love cats. Dogs are just a bit too "unconditional love" for me.

Agree, my dog has never let me down, people who are so called friends do that all the time.

Whatever. Just don't go round joining the ALF or similar. Some of the most cold hearted, untrustworthy, soicially inept and stunted individuals I have ever met were veggie/vegan types who cared more for animals than humans.

Apparently, men tend to like dogs because they can control them. Whereas women generally prefer cats due to their carefree attitude and independence.
Maybe that's why you love dogs?

Well I adore my dog and the feeling is mutual but he's not very hot discussing current issues or giving his opinion on music, clothes etc, but hey each to his/her own.
