what's so gross about bodily functions? Do you think a person is less clean or not as polite if you catch them fart or you happen to hear them taking a dump in the next stall over? Really, we all crap, pee, fart, and vomit so what's the big deal?

I agree... not a big deal, but it's not gross when it's you dong the function, but it seems gross when it's somebody else. Can't explain it.... it's one of life's mysteries.

Bodily functions, especially from that region of the body, are gross, but they are also all natural. I might not like the smells or sounds (or heaven forbid, SIGHTS) of people "dealing" with them, but I don't freak out about it, either. I agree with you, though - bodily functions don't somehow make a person less clean.

Now not washing your hands, that's another story!

Honestly, I'm not aware of any etiquette rules that keep one from farting in the bathroom. I don't particularly like to hear or smell other people's farts, but at least it's in the bathroom, where this type of thing belongs.

What's gross and problematic, is when someone farts at my dinner table, or in the car with me. Puh-lease! Yes, we all do it, but yes, we all also have some self control, and a bit of concern for those around us. Therefore, we excuse ourselves from the table, in order to take this into the bathroom, where this type of thing belongs.

Yes, we all do it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to drop my pants and take a crap in front of everyone. And yeah, I know you fart, but that doesn't mean I want to either hear it or smell it. Things happen, but if at all possible it's just better for everyone involved if some things are kept private.

I was at a sporting event, waiting in line (but that's a WHOLE other issue) and a little girl asked her mom "why does it smell in here?" The mom replied "People are taking care of their business, that's all." It was enough for the little girl and those of us within hearing distance. =)

I don't find anything wrong cause everybody has bodily functions too. They're hypocrites.

I honestly don't care what people do in the bathroom. I don't think it's rude. But if you're doing it at the dinner table, or just on purpose, that's really rude.

It's not something that I immediately think about when I look at people.

It's all normal and all of us do it. Some people are just too immature about it.
