My first walked alone on his 1st Birthday because he was good at trying so everyone made him try throughout the day until finally he did it while he held a balloon (not latex - mylar...) kept his mind off of his feet, my second walked exactly 1 month after his first birthday.
Anytime is a fine time, my cousins son is 17mo and not walking yet and he's baby #4, so anytime as long as everything else is healthy no worries.

Around the age of 1 give or take a month or so. I have 4 kids. One of them walked at 9 months. One waited until around 14 months. All the kids are normal kids. It just depends on the kid.'

My daughter started at 10 months, my son at about 19 months believe it or not and my last son at about 11 months. It all depends on the child. My son who walked late just would not try it he would just scream so we bought him a steady car to push and that is how he moved around until he decided to do it on his own. It was a good thing because soon after that my third child was born.

I don't have kids but my youngest nephew started walking at just 8 months. We were all so thrilled thinking he was so gifted when he started walking so young but then he didn't start talking until he was 3 and you couldn't understand him until he was much older. They say it was because he had an older sibling to do all his talking for him, but in either case, it really blew the gifted child dreams we had!
He is 19 years old now and just starting college and a normal kid so I guess it really does say much about anything when it comes to those early firsts. Just a parents hopes and dreams I guess.

My son was around 11 months old, and my niece was about 10 months old. Enjoy your baby not walking yet! Seems once they start their is no stopping them! You spend so much time wanting them to walk, and talk, then spend the rest of their lives wanting them to sit down, and be quite! :)
