Sooner or later, every man's name is a slang term for penis. Dick has been a nickname for both Richard and his little soldier for centuries. Also popular: Will, John Thomas, Peter, Princess Sophia

I don't really think many people use the nickname Dick anymore when naming their child Richard. However, I know many people named Dick and don't really think of the slang term. Maybe I am mature enough to overlook things like that!!!!!

Dick was a nickname long before it was vulgar anatomical slang. And yes, it is equally common in other English-speaking countries.

I don't hear any new babies being named "Dick". It is an old-fashioned name. The slang name, only came out in the 80's.

Dick is short for Richard and has been around forever. Grow up.

Interesting question, perhaps you should ask Dick Trickle (NASCAR racer).

And you should be offended if someone calls you Richard Cranium.
