Here is the problem:
when i double click on a video file (this happens only with video/audio files), the file does not open, the program WinRar opens instead. And when i right click on the video file, i don't see (open) on the first of the list, i see (add to archive)!! The only way for me to open video file is to use (open with)....how can i put the command (open) on the top of the list...it's not even there anymore...
Just to let you know, i think this problem started when i installed some codec program. (i think K-Lite mega codec, or something like that)...i uninstalled it and i still have the same problem.

PLEASE help...
Thank you all.

Do the 'open with', but then select 'Choose Program' instead. Pick your program that you want to play the file with, e.g. Windows Media Player, the before you click OK, 'tick' the checkbox that says 'Always use the selected ...'. Now click OK.
You should get the Open menu item back.

You need to reset the "file association" for this one. Double Click My Computer, Click on Tools, Folder Options, File Types, Scroll to the type file this is by extension, and reset the default there. Good Luck

it may be you have some how managed to have this winrar associated with these particular file extensions....try doing the 'open with....' again, choose 'browse' and then select the prefered appl. then in 'set program access and default' (in the start menu) choose 'custom/non-microsoft' heading, and select which app. you desire to do the opening. maybe this willl help
