You have to remove the label VERY carefully, because the data on the CD is right under it. If there's a scratch on the other side, it's no big deal to get it fixed with the Disk Doctor, but if there's a scratch on the label side, the CD is ruined.

It depends on the adhesive, thickess, weight, balance of the label and most importsnt no over-hanging edges!
Personally I write on them with a Sharpie and never worry about a label jamming my CD player...most will peal or fall off in time. Unless the label covers all but the outer 3/8s of the entire CD, it could effect spin balance.
Never try to glue one on...

Your CD should still play as long as the recorded media side doesn't have any dirt or deep scratches on it. If it does try the game or skip doctor to fix it. It works good for me.
