Try a local YMCA or just ask the preschools in your area.
YMCAs especially can work out payment arrangements if necessary. :P
Don't forget to explain your situation!

You can also try Head Start. It is also based on income however do take a certain number of students that are not in the lower income bracket. A local college may have a preschool program they use in relationship to their education program. Also, if you child has exhibited any disability, they can be placed in program regardless of your income level. It does not have to be a major disability either. Call your local school about preschool screening or there may be a company or organization in town that handles that. Maternal Health in the school district, if they have it, may have some other options. Otherwise start working with your child at home. Read to him. Talk with him. Teach him Mother Goose songs and his ABC's, colors and some numbers. Let him cut when you are cutting something. Or count the ingredients you use in a recipe, etc. Most importantly have fun!

My state has preschool programs that are free if you qualify. The programs are run through the public schools. So one thing you might do is call your local school district and ask them where the preschools are and if they have any discounted programs. If they don't give you the answer you want, then call the schools that have the programs and see what their answer is. Some private schools do have scholarships so they can attract a mixed group of people.

Sometimes I'm not sure what the cause of my upset is,,, but... I have had various types of food poisoning too many times in my life. I went to a chinese restaurant here a couple of years ago,, and got sick.. and didn't go back there until a few months ago,, went in to check it out,,, got sick again! I went to a deli and they advertised home-made sausage - I tried some,, it didn't set well, and I got sick. :( One time I ate some potato salad,,, it did look kind of off color,,, got sick. One time I microwaved a capon for thanksgiving,, it didn't cook evenly,, got sick.

I get diarrhea, and feel sick, like chills and weak, sometimtes nausea,, and it lasts a few days for me... this last time it was off and on for two weeks because it set off some complications.

It seems that mostly it has been meat that has made me sick. I also got sick in the Dominican Republic from bad water. :(

I try to eat only in places I trust to observe good food handling techniques... no wiping their noses with gloved hands. No leaving the food out for a long time at room temperature. I check to make sure the place is clean, the aprons are clean.
I am very careful about fish,,, and I sniff it and use it up quickly,, same day or next day. I smell things a lot. Check the color,, pink is a good color,, grey is not... moist is okay,, slimy is not. Watch out for molds. Check to make sure that freezers are cold enough so that food is solid.

Some church based preschools offer scholarships for people who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. Check around in your community.
I used to work in a church preschool that offered scholarships.

Check the classifieds... friends and family... Also check with Catholic charities, sometimes they do over look "income" gudielines. My mom got assistance even though they made more money. That was because our insurance was taken directly out of her checks... for 6 kids it can be costly, so we were all able to go to pre school. I guess it depends on your situation.

Check with your local intermediate unit - they often provide services for needy students & many states have programs (Pennsylvania has Head Start) geared at people with not-as-substantial incomes.
