I had a very mild case of carpal tunnel syndrome. With an ergonomically correct desk (such as keyboard tray) and one of those split/angled keyboards, the pain was kept at a bare minimum... I barely had pain. When I started my new job in January, I let them know of my condition and that all I needed was a keyboard tray added to my desk. (I still have the keyboard from my old job). I have brought it up several times, but no one has gotten around to getting a keyboard tray put in for me. I offered to order one and call building maintenance, but was told that they would "get around to it". They still haven't done it. I am now pregnant and I think the swelling from pregnancy may be contributing more to the pain, but all in all my hands hurt very badly. I can barely make a fist. If this progrsses, is it considered a worker's comp issue?????

I don't think so since you had it before you started working there. If it was caused by your current job then I think it would be. My boyfriend had surgery to releive his and he says it was the best thing he's ever done. If you have insurance you should see a doctor and find out what your options are.

Not anymore. Because Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a known risk of the job now (not like back in the late 80's where it was just starting) it is not covered by workers comp.

Your insurance should pay it, if it doesnt, then thats a whole different arena.

Think of it like when you join the military, you cant sue if you get shot.
