What type of stuff usually kept around the house (besides candles) would make a room really romantic?

I maybe should have clarified that this is for another female. Oops...

It is so funny how when I read your question and then the answers you received if you are trying to impress a male, just lay on the bed LOL :) it is us women who want the place to be more of a romantic setting, I don't see many men caring about that. Anyhow to answer your question I am thinking men just want to see you in some skimpy clothes and ready :) goodluck

Whatever you consider to be "mood music"... removing as much clutter as you can... maybe draping a scarf over the lamps... have lots of pillows around... consider making a "nest" on the floor with pillows and a comforter like you would for a picnic in front of a fireplace (this depends on what room you're using, of course!)

If there's anything businesslike or audiovisual in the room (like a computer or TV) cover it up or remove it from the room and replace it with something like figurines or bowls of potpourri or even fruit....

Have romantic food if you're aiming for sexy as well... strawberries and chocolate and bananas and whipped cream and maraschino cherries with stems on them... wine if you're old enough.... sparkling cider if you're not...

Sometimes a satiny or silky robe tossed artfully across a chair in a bedroom can stir romantic feelings... and consider putting just a drop of perfume on a light bulb if you want the whole room to have that scent.

Get into the refrigerator, get out the mustard, mayonnaise, cheese, and whatever kind of sandwich meat you like. Make a few sandwiches, all along keeping in mind the other persons likes and dislikes. Get a few bottles of cold water or juice. Put them in a basket and get a blanket. Take your partner/friend/husband/lover/whoever.... and go to a remote place just you and that person ( a secluded place in the park, at the lake). Have fun talking and eating and when the time comes do what we as humans were called to do. And have fun, don't hold back!!!

For a bedroom, candles are always romantic. Also, netting that you can put over your bed is inexpensive. You can get them at Pier One or buy the fabric at a fabric store for cheap and it gives it a romantic feel! Floral arrangements and wreaths are good too.

Paint in light colors, like beige, pinks, etc. are romantic as well, with white window treatments.

You also can get roses from a floral shop that are going to be thrown out. Take the pedals off and spread them around. Spray some of your favorite perfume around, especially if it is a scent that drives him wild. Also, men find it really romantic when they come into the room and you are half naked lying there waiting for them! lol

Candles rule...as you have seen, dim lighting, lots of pillows, scented oils, odd sheets that can be draped over furniture to give it a soft look, and keep it from being damaged by the oils , etc...
Finger foods, things you have to eat with your hands, from candies, to sliced fruit.

Have fun!

No frilly lacey girly stuff....you may like it, but the men don't.

Mirrors, honey, mirrors!! Use your imagination....you can move some from other rooms if you do not want to invest a lot of money.

Get some music and DITCH the TV!!
