@Gray.. as i sended to you via email .. here in europe you don't just go to dog shows (listed under the FCI standards and under the local main clubs ) to breed . It is also a meet up to see (for the breeders ) how the result of the breed is .
In Europe you also (if you breed under the main local clubs (like ACK in USA , VDH in Germany )don't have that diffrent type of pedigrees (u have pet quality /show quality )Here u just have one ..or none

If it is a diffrent breed you call it american bulldog ,or Alpha blue bulldog , Victorian bulldog ,Old english bulldog ...or whatever

I know that you should be able to get an AKC registration off of a foreign registry -- people import dogs into the USA all of the time to show.

While p_l_gray is right that the purpose of shows is the evaluation of breeding dogs, there are plenty of people that I know who simply like to show, to be out with their dogs competing and meeting other dog people, and really don't want to breed. So even if you don't want to breed, you should still be able to show your Bulldog if you'd like. :)

Here's the AKC's info on obtaining AKC registration on a foreign-registered dog:
http://www.akc.org/rules/special_registry_services.cfm

There are shows in the USA that go by FCI rules, but they are harder to find.

Good luck!

You cannot go AKC. You will have to look for FCI dog show in the USA.

I have several friends that have FCI breeds that brought them from another country and the AKC DENIED registration to them for various reasons. Maybe they will register some, but other get declined!!!!!!!!
I would call AKC directly and talk to a real person!!!!!!!!

Depends on the type of Bulldog also!!! The English Bulldogs may have a better shot, some of the other "bulldogs" that the FCI registers ARE not AKC registerable!!!!!

As far as AKC accepting FCI dogs youd have to check with them, or perhaps someone else on here knows. You register for shows individually. I would contact your local Bulldog club, or go to the National Bulldog Club website. They will have info on upcoming shows and how to register.

The AKC does not accept FCI registered dogs in sanctioned events. The animal will have to be registered in the AKC to participate in AKC sanctioned events.

My question is that if you don't want to breed, why bother to show. That is the purpose of the show to find the lines most suitable for breeding.

Hey GitEm.... LOSER.... I didn't say that the AKC wouldn't register FCI dogs... I said that they would have to be registered in the AKC before participating in AKC events. Learn to read before claiming that someone doesn't know what they are talking about. Get over yourself.

You'll have to look more on the AKC website for what types of registration it accepts. I have a friend that bought a dog from Germany, and she was able to register with AKC.

Otherwise you can get an ILP number from AKC, "Indefinate Listing Privellege" which will allow you to enter AKC events.

AKC WILL too register FCI dogs! They do it all the time.
They CAN too be shown. NOT in "American-bred" class,of course! LOL

You might check out infodog.com as well as akc.org

I haven't shown as much as I used to to -cuz I discoverd HUNTING is more fun *&* I don't have to dress up!
Bet you'll find the exhibitors are more serious about all the "proper procedure" than European.
Come on over & HAVE FUN!!!

Hey "grey"??? IT"S FUN!!! *YOU* don't know what you're TALKING ABOUT!!! So,don't,OK?

There are UKC (United Kennel Club) dog shows here as well. You will probably have better luck getting your FCI dog into UKC than AKC.

Check on their websites, there should be info there.
