Well, since they know how to stay out of your kind of trouble, I would take it. That's what I think of that statement. Luckily, that statement never provoked much thought in me, and so, I really don't have your kind of trouble. So, are you going to take my advice?

Never read the book.

Jesus Christ Himself, never had car problems. He never had problems with a child coughing running a fever at night. He never lost His job and no income. But..I will take His advise.
When a person can talk with someone about a problem they have personal experience with, that may be cool. It would hold for a more "closeness" talk. But bottom line is this:
I'll talk any day with any person that "lifts" me up with The Word of God, and shows me how to handle any problem through faith. After all, it's a solution a person should be looking for, not just someone to talk too.

GREAT Question.

I would say, never blame someone who gave you the wrong advice when they have not had your kind of trouble...

People give the best advice they can. It is up to you to decide if you want to take it or not.

Wouldn't live by it. Good advice is good advice, whether the've been there or not. As a kid, I would see my siblings get in trouble for things and I knew better than to do what they did. Some of the best advice I got(unsolicited even).

A lot of problems can have much of the same common sense soloutions. As well as emotions, most people also think much the same way or get info from many whom already had that experience and therefore passes it on to you and therefore advice that can be sound and helpful.

An unbiased opinion is a good one to listen to as any advice that would be given, if asked for, to be able to compare., But bottom line is GOD is the one to go to and get the final answer to any issue. Spiritually one can ask for help and follow whatever comes to you from HIM. HE knows what is the right answer for all and has the power to pass it on in a way that one perceives the choice in their heart.....

honestly thats crap. An outside sourse can see things that the person in trouble cannot see. Where an outside person can see a way out the one in trouble may not. Getting advice is good no matter from whom, it's only advice.

Does that mean if you have an eye problem you should only go to a blind eye surgeon?

That is a dumb premise for a book. Lots of times people who are further away from a situation have a better handle on solutions since they are not as caught up in the old problem.

Then you would never take advice from anybody, since nobody has exactly the same troubles.

I believe you can listen to advice from anyone... you just never know, they may have an answer... even if they have never had the problem. Getting advice doesn't mean you have to follow it.
