I have found that to be true. The fleas leave the front of the dog that is wearing a flea collar because when they travel from the body of the dog to the mouth to get water they die...so when the dog is wearing a flea collar they travel to the rear of the dog for moisture...gross really, but true. The collar may lessen the amount of the fleas, but does not eliminate them. Try the flea spot meds that are available. They work really well.

Frontline and Advantix skin drops are much more effective. Flea collars are not as effective, and some of them are made from harmful, toxic chemicals. Also, folks tend to leave them on past their useful life, giving the false hope that they are working when they are not. Drops are applied once a month and really do the trick! They not only kill the fleas, but keep them from reproducing and kill any eggs laid on the skin. Flea collars don't do that.

I found this to be true. When I put a flea collar on my dog, I thought it was working...because you don't generally pet your dogs butt too often. I discovered when I found him scratching or biting the inside of his hind leg insanely, that the fleas had all migrated to the opposite end of his body.
So I tried the drops instead, worked like a charm.

They may be better than nothing, but, as stated drops work better. I did use them on my Horses, would put one on each leg above the Hoof, they did help keeping only Ticks from climbing up their legs. Doubt you can do this with a Dog as they will try to bite it off. Use Drops and a Tick Spray (sprayed lightly on legs and under). I assume the Drops not only absorb into their body, but, in time it run down on the outside as it has an oily base.

No they don't work. Buy frontline plus. This works great at killing fleas and ticks and my dog as no ill effects from it. The flea collars sometimes bother the dogs neck more than they ever kill the fleas.

Very true. Don't waste your money on them, go to a vet a buy a pack of Front Line, it's around 11$ and works all month, and is also water proof!
If your puppy has fleas I'd give it a good flea bath, bomb your house and apply the front line.

Flea collars kills fleas and keep them off as good as throwing water on your dog.. They are a total waste of money!

I have never had one that actually works. Baking soda works better than the flea collars and not as hazardous

I don't know anything about how well they do or don not work, but think about this ... How would you like wearing a chemical collar 24/7?

They keep the flea's off that little strip they cover around the neck. But that is it. Oh and they smell bad. I like the treatments that are applied once a month
