It sounds like seboreic dermatitis. I have had these types of dry spots too. The best thing I found to help my scalp was Wildroot Creme oil found in the men's hair section at Walgreens. Women can use it too. About once per week, i wet my hair down, towel dry then apply a generous amount of the Wildroot. I comb it through my hair and rub it into my scalp then comb my hair back into a slicked style. I leave it on all day pr over night then shampoo normally with two latherings. The Wildroot contains mineral oil and lanolin which are great for the hair and scalp. My scalp is in excellent condition, with no more dry spots.

You'd benefit from a oil treatment. Like a tea
tree oil one found in the health section. But, I would
check with your doctor since is could also be
skin problem that will need a specific cream to
assist with getting rid of it which will cut down
on your picking at it.
