Ok easy...

1.) Unplug/shutdown the modem, router and PC.

2.) connect your ethernet cable coming from the cable modem/DSL modem into the Internet or WAN port on the back of the router.

3.) Plug an ethernet cable from the Router to a PC.

4.) Power them on in this order. Cable modem (wait 1 full minute), The Router (wait 30 seconds), and finally the PC.

With most routers like that, that should be all you need to do to get online.

• Alright. let's see if this baby works

Installing a wireless router can sometimes be a scary thing. One of the big focuses of manufacturers is to make router hardware installation as user friendly as possible. I have to say that Belkin's new easy-install router is one of the quickest and easiest installs I have ever done. With that being said, problems can, and often will, happen. If you have any problems, refer to the last page of the article for some tips and tricks to help you.

Now we will install the CD that came with your wireless router card. As I stated on the previous page, If you're comfortable with downloading drivers I recommend downloading the newest drivers from Belkin's site. It's not required, but looking for updated drivers is always a good habit to have.

These screenshots are exactly the way you will install your router. Be sure to read the directions carefully.

Make sure you do not connect power or cables until the screenshots tell you to.

Once you have the CD inserted, follow these screenshots:

Installing your wireless router/part 2

This part of the procedure is the most important. The Belkin software does a great job of walking you through the install. The key is to follow it exactly.

When I installed my router, the software went from menu item 3--check directly to finish. Your install may ask you some simple questions on menu items 4 and 5, but should be no big deal. If you are going to run into troubles, it will probably be on menu item 3, when the router is checking the connection. If you do have problems, don't panic. There is some advice on the last page of this tutorial to help you out.
