No, the most world famous body is the British Navies Royal Marines, there are Dutch Marines, Russia's Shipborne Infantry. Basically any nation that has a navy has a body of men who perform the function of Marines. These may not have the separate identity or the prestige of the US and Royal Marines but they exist.

Most of the former british colonies have a royal Marine Corps, as well as Korea, and Taiwan. The Russians have Spetznaz, which loosely translates as Naval Soldier. The netherlands have the Royal Dutch Marines, but they are closer to Special Forces than regular military.

No, Marines are a common force. The idea of amphibious assualt is new to many countries though. Marine in general used to mean soldiers on a naval vessel who were used as sharpshooters and boarders.
