Mommy probably doesn't want a puppy because it will be Mommy doing all of the work involved with the puppy. She will be the one who housetrains it, takes it outside, feeds it, takes it to the vet, cleans up after it, etc. Mommy probably has her hands full with a house to clean, most likely a job outside of the home, a husband to cook and clean for, and two children to care for. Then there are the activities that the children are most likely in..so Mommy has to make sure the puppy is crated while she's running kids, errands, etc. THEN..if the puppy chews on the carpet, piddles on the couch, or eats husband's shoe or children's toys, she'll be the one to hear about "that bad puppy". If Mom says NO she means NO!!!

Well, its better to talk it over with your Mum. I had the same problem last time, but my mum gave in finally, and now, she loves the dogs like anything!

I would suggest you tell her why you want a pup. A dog is not a toy, so yeah, think it over carefully.

Why does she not like puppies? Is it because of a childhood experience? Or is she allergic? If she doesn't like them at all for no good reason, then well, bring her to a pet shop or a breeder and let her see the pups. Tell her you will be responsible for its needs and everything. I am sure she will give in sometime soon.

Let your daddy talk her into it! Tell her you can get a small dog thats a little easier to take care of. If you promised to take care of it you really need to go through with that promise! Even after the excitment of having a new pet wares off! PetSmart has training classes for about $100, take it! It's great for your new pet and its fun! If she thinks you're not responsible enough start doing chores around the house. I don't know exactly how old you are but thats how my kids conned me into getting a dog!

No, everybody in the house should want the dog, or the people who don't may end up resenting it. And, despite good intentions, it's almost always the mother of the family that ends up with the majority of the work in keeping a pet.

Sure. As long as you take care of it and be the one responsible for it. Cleaning after it, Training it, Feeding , taking it for a walk, playing with it, etc. Owning a dog is a lot of joy but at the same time a LOT of responsibility (specially a puppy). Their behaviour will depend on how you take care of them during puppyhood. See, if your dad and sister are willing to share the load with you. Good luck.

No. Dogs smell. They pee everywhere. They beg to get some food. They make you feel guilty when you put them away. They chase after you in park while you are jogging. One is forever stepping in their excretes. A puppy will grow to be a BIG dog. Dogs need attention. Cats are much cleverer than dogs.

Moreover, please realize that your mum owns the house you live in. So when she doesn't want it you can't get one.

Yes. Majority rules. Once you have it and your mom will come around. How could she not ... it's a puppy.
