i want to find my father to get back pay for child support. he owes like $20,000 and i really need it now because i will be in college in the fall of '07. i only know his name and age. he didnt sign my birth certificate and i have no idea where he lives. he was ordered to pay child support but somehow the money stopped coming like 10 yrs ago. another question is how can he just stop paying and not go to jail or something?

If you have proof he is the father- DNA test then you can take it to a lawyer/ child support office and they can find him and make him pay.

Geez-People are kind of mean in their answers to you.
I think you should go to Legal Aid and hire a lawyer if you have little money. If a court declared that he was ordered to pay money, then it doesn't matter how old you are right now (which I would assume is under 18)--he still owes it--plus interest! They'll be able to find him. It doesn't matter if he signed the birth certificate or not.
Your mother evidently did not pursue it, that's why he didn't go to jail or be forced to pay. The courts are too busy to pursue it on their own and sometimes need a little nudge. Good luck!

Hate to say it, but you are looking for a needle in a haystack!!!You have got to be young, and the abandonment weighs more heavily than the money....There are just deadbeat parents in the world...NOTHING YOU DID, they are just immature people who have no heart. Hard to grasp, that some one could care so little, but there are alot of selfish people in the world. They don't "get it". One ride on this planet, some people think their life is all that matters........that is the problem.......and yet the people they leave behind...Get tough!!!! no shame in saying you know what? FU!!! Why not, it was easy for them! They aren't losing sleep or depressed, so why would you let yourself be, consumed by their lack of humanity.....................

contact the courts or if you want to do it yourself you can contact an agency that does background reports and they should be able to track to his last known address.

You can try Reunion.com; if they can't find him you might not be able to. reunion.com costs 9.95, but that is cheap compared to other sites
