One fine day i discovered and decided to fight myself eversecond to overcome from the depression cycle. The first think i did was, i took god out of mind and filled myself with lof of positive thinkings by reading self-help books. Soon i recovered...... but i see many people who are trying to find a relegious solution are yet to come out of it...belving that god will come and help.

What kind of depression are you talking about? Clinical...nah, no connection. Moderate depression that lasts briefly? I think that it may be quite possible for some people with self esteem issues, and that being because religious people hold themselves to a whole different standard for a lot of other reasons than the non-religious sect. Overall though, I think that religious people are happier and subject to less depression because they have an end goal, they have purpose, and with faith as their guides, they tend to socialize with other religious people...who are less prone to depression...but it is just an opinion.

Depression is not something any Christian should live with. It is something that needs to be overcome.

Claiming the promises in God's Word gives the victory. Forgetting the past and looking toward the future.

Who are they who overcomes? Those that are born of God. What is our victory? Our faith.

If you went into depression when you prayed, there is something wrong with your concept of God. It seems that your association with God is on the negative.

Depression comes with wrong or negative thinking or just not forgiving other. Praying negative thoughts to God; Whining & complaining to God doesn't get anywhere with God. In all things give thanks to God for this pleases Him. Also we need to walk in forgiveness 24/7. Pray the positive, victorious bible verses to God. These are bible promises. God will come and help.

Remember, faith & religion are two different things.

Without faith it is impossible to please God for those that come to Him must believe that He Is and is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him. True everlasting religious works are done out faith, hope & love for God.

NO WAY , you are so wrong! You were depressed because thats the type of person you are. Its actually just the opposite, God gives you strength to deal with the bad things that happen in life.....if it wasnt for God in many people's lives they would not be able to handle the things that life deals them! Fellow believers also help each other and are a huge support system! Also a something you need to learn...The Lord God helps those who help themselves!

I don't know, but I felt guilty a whole lot more often when I was religious. I thought if I was depressed I must have done something wrong--like god was 'convicting' me of something or other.
Now when I'm depressed for no apparent reason I just figure my hormones are playing tricks with my brain and wait for it to pass. And it does :)

No. Everyone has trials and tribulations and your mindset has to be one that you are not the only one going through or that has gone through this trial or tribulation and you could be worse off, but your not. And to continue thinking about the good things (blessings) that you have received.

You simply learned to control your own mind, something that most all religions discourage.
