If you feel this way, it might be time to change churches. But first, you might want to speak to the pastor and find out exactly what it is he objects to. There is a lot of controversy surrounding stem cell research, especially stem cells taken from human embryos. The main objection is that some embryos are produced in laboratories and then killed just for the stem cells. There are groups that support embryonic tissue stem cells that are taken from aborted embryos that don't have any life potential.
Stem cell research in and of itself is an amazing scientific breakthrough that can cure fatal diseases and genetic disorders and extend the human life cycle. It's the method used that the dissenters are opposed to.
But if explaining this to your pastor still results in a dead end, there are other churches that are more accepting. Science and religion have always been at odds with one another. It is hoped that eventually there will be a meeting of the minds on this and other topics that touch on scientific advances vs. ethics and morality. Good luck!

This is the first time you thought something the church believed was wrong? You need to thing more & have more faith.
Think carefully about the Noah & Ark story - can you reasonable find any way that that many animals from that many diverse areas were collected much less fit on that size ark (it gives dimensions & you needed to stack them). Believing in the gospel does not mean blinding believing everything you are taught. I do not believe in stem cell research, but have other issues that I do not believe. It does not make me feel like an either or situation ihas occurred. I have faith in Jesus Christ & that is enough for me.

There may be churches that are more open-minded. You can also live a moral life without church if that's where you end up. I know several non-religious people who are very kind and good and some religious people who are dishonest and mean, so I don't think goodness has much to do with religion. Keep questioning.

Your beleifs are your own and you stick to them.
What they don't know doesn't hurt them, you can support the research and use it/look into it whatever,
The church took a couple hundred years to accept that the planets went around the SUN not the Earth.. their ignorane will pass... just not in this or your great great grand children's life times

You should find another church, or do without one.
A church should not be in the business of telling you what to think and how to feel.
That's not the message of anyone's bible...(christian, buddhist, muslim, jewish or etc)

You don't go to church to agree with everything...
You go for yourself.
Make it about yourself and your own relationship with god, you don' t have to believe what everyone else wants you to.
For instance, I'm catholic, but I take birth control pills due to my PCOS, they don't want you to take them for any reason, but I choose since i'm going to be a physician to treat my patients and myself with them. I still go to church to pray... I just dont' agree with everything that's all...
