Hey yeah to the guy who gave you www.answersingenesis.org- fabulous website!!! There is also a website for Creation Research Institute that is helpful, and Answers in Genesis has links to some other ones from their articles. I even subscribe to Creation magazine from Answers in Genesis.

You asked which ones DON'T take it literally, and I think that an earlier response maybe answered backwards. Southern Baptists, Assembly of God churches I believe take it very literally.

You have to understand that just because a church belongs to a particular denomination, doesn't mean that it believes the same thing. For example, I have been to hundreds of ELCA Lutheran churches (used to be part of a ministry band) and they mostly all do not take the Bible literally. But I have been to a few that preach 6 days and young earth and no death before sin, etc.

My husband and I now go to a non-denominational church that takes the Bible literally (there are LOTS of reasons why we feel this is important to do!!) but I also know that different non-denominational churches are more "everybody is ok believing what they want to" etc.

Churches that DO interp Genesis literally(generally speaking):
Assembly of God
Calvery Chapel
Non-denominational churches that are Biblical
Missouri Synod Lutherans (some Wisconsin synods as well)
Southern Baptists
(I've heard Four-Square churches do, too, but I don't know firsthand)

Churches that DON'T for the most part:
ELCA Lutherans
Methodist
Presbyterian
Unity churches

almost everyone would allow some form of poetry and interprtation of the literature in the sense of the literature
and I am all for trying to understand the inteded sense of the literature... I personally lean strongly toward a young earth 6 day creation as the inteded sense of the literature as Moses and Jesus would have understood it

is the question is which groups might have a young earth 6 day view? or which allow a long age view?

Missouri Sinod Lutheran would have a 6 day view

some do not take a hard stance and leave it to the members
Presbeterian Church in Americ would allow a variety of views from 6 day, to framework hypothesis to long ages

some like liberal and Catholic lean more toward theistic evolution which sadly will do alot in the long run to undermine their values they try and protect

Catholics believe that Genesis is true in matters of faith, but not necessarily in matters of history.
