every Indian Nation got it's own name to define themselves. American Indian it's just an AE term to identify who belong to an ethnic group that is extremely wide and different from coast-to-coast.

we used their tribe name witch was not the name of their tribe but that tribes word for human being. they each in their own language refered to themselves as human beings.they didn't have the concept of being anything else till the coming of the white man. Witch in my opinion is quite admirable.
