You need to check with the policies of your institution on this matter. If there is a rule about dating students, you may need to think this through. As you say, you are both adults, yet your institution may feel that relationships with students are not to be encouraged. I am guessing that since you are asking the questions, you have some concerns about how others will respond to your relationship.

Some institutions are able to make allowances for the relationships that occur. For example, it might be possible for him to be assigned to another teacher while you are dating.

Generally, the problem with these types of relationships is an ethical issue involving an uneven power dynamic. So when doctors fall in love with patients, ministers fall in love with congregants, and other cases where there is an understanding of professionalism involved, what generally happens is that other arrangements are made for the professional component of the relationship (ie the congregant goes to another church, the patient is assigned to a different doctor). Then, these individuals are free to engage in their relationship without ethical concerns arising.

If something along these lines is not possible and you decide to continue with the relationship, your best approach is extreme discretion, which many people have had to do.

Good luck, and be careful!

Do not start a relationship with a student of any age. Classes do not last that long. Wait until the last day of class, or just after finals. If you do that then there won't be a ethics issue for you. When a new relationship is started you should never have to feel as though you are looking over your shoulder.
Good luck!
P.S. I spell checked , i hope the grammar is OK.

Are there rules and regulations or such thats says you cannot date a student at the institution. If so, then you pretty much can't pursue this guy. Unless you wait until he finishes whatever courses he's taking there and then go for it. On the other hand, if there are no such rules then go for it, you have nothing to lose. Seems like you really like this man.

I was an English teacher in a private institution in Japan.
I fell in love with a student and married her.
It's all good as long as you don't lose your job.

I don't see a problem with you dating a student as long as the school you teach at doesn't have issues with it. Go for it

You must wait until his course is complete..........If the relationship breaks up and you are his teacher it would be a mess....you are the one with the power you are his teacher.Just wait.
