Every time science comes up with something useful, religious luddites have a cow. But things like evolutionary biology march on, and we are better for it.

You are wrong. Without science we would still be in the stone age. Only with the use of science can we ever hope to mitigate the effects of humans on the environment. Sure mistakes have been made in the past but nothing is as bad as the naysayers would have you believe. The planet is not damaged beyond repair, the sky is not falling and global warming is normal. So are ice ages. Just be glad you are not living during a period of global cooling!
