Silly - i know! We just moved into a new house and the walls are perfect. I have some picture frames I want to hang, but don't want to use a nail - i recall seeing some kind of product that is a sticky type thing that you can stick to the wall (it's a white plastic hook i think) and then just hang your stuff off if it - when you want to remove it, there i some tabbie thing you pull and the adhesive can be easily removed??? Thanks for any insight - or some other creative ideas! :) 10 pts to best answer and 1 pt for all cordial answers as a 'thank you'!

I have the things, well, had, and let me tell you, they don't do crap for hanging pictures. I hung a bunch of different sized and weighted things and they have all fallen off. One of the frames was very old and when it fell, not only did it crack the frame, the frame ripped the canvas that the picture was on. It was something that my great grandma had given me and I was less than impressed. Another one fell and I had millions of glass shards everywhere.
The walls were smooth, clean and I followed the directions, but they have all fallen off. Not only that, but the sticky stuff pulled some of the paint off.

3M makes them, and they are called Command Adhesive. I really would just go ahead and drill a small pilot hole and then put the nail in. If you drill the pilot hole first, you will lessen the risk of cracking the wall or peeling the paint. All it would take is a little putty, a small piece of sandpaper and some touch up paint if you would want to move the picture.

It will be less of a headache than trying to replace valuable items that have broken or ripped.

She's right...3M makes them...they are wonderful and I got them on sale at Meijer's and saw them on sale at Target too. They are actually considered a 'back-to-school' item because so many people use them in their lockers! Just watch for the LB or pound rating on them. They also have special "sawtooth" ones specially made for hanging pictures!
