Whether he makes it through the night or the next couple of months depends upon his neurology and circumstances.

I'm reluctant to sound to analytical about your pet when he's in this state, but it sounds like you just got him. If you did, and he didn't have any sort of accident that you know of before this stroke occured, you may want to contact the person from whom you purchased your bird.

Possible other reasons for your bird's misfortune could be unforeseeable genetics (two birds with no history, no shared blood), foreseeable genetics (brother/sister breeding, especially), environmental hazards in the bird's place of origin, and disease. There should probably have been a health guarantee on him, too. Even a little refund would help you pay for any further medical care that he needs.

You may enjoy talking to the budgie owners in this budgie disease forum. Some of them may have had similar problems:

Good luck.

I hope she is ok. Lets just hope that she will live through the night. If the vet let her come home then she should be just fine. Don't worry and if she seems to get worse, then take her back to the vet. Good luck and stay relaxed.

Any type of bird generally doesn't do very well with trauma like that, but there are some that can come out of it okay. Just depends on how much they themselves want to live - I'm sorry about your budgie - hope she makes it!

Hopefully they have given her some medication that will make her better. She is tiny so it may take a little while. Ask the doctor if there is anything you should do as far as feeding or room termperature. I hope she pulls through! Best of luck to you.

This bird sounds that it is very bad shape and all I can say if you believe in a God, that is the only way I really know how to save the bird is to pray to God to take care of the bird. All I say is only God knows if that Bird is going to live or die, it is totally in God's hands now.

I am so sorry to hear about your little budgie. It is so hard to tell what happened to her but she is probly an elderly bird and will need special attention right now and she may passaway. At least if she does passaway she goes knowing she was loved and prayed for. Good luck to you.

I'm not sure if she will live but I hope so. Her chances are better because you took her to a vet.
