There is no right of recission on auto sales contracts in any state in the US.

Some dealers do offer a very short period of time to change your mind and switch to a different vehicle but the costs are usually rather high.

However, if your sales agreement is silent on this, you have NO right to return the vehicle. If a dealer decided to let you do that, it would be entirely in his good graces or for customer service reasons to do so; he is under NO legal obligation to do so.

Only if this is written into the contract. The better way to do it is to get the dealer to let you test drive the car for a weekend. Most used car dealerships will agree to this. Most new car dealers have a satisfaction guarantee clause, but it may cost you money if you don't trade for another car at the same dealership.

Some dealers have a return policy, 5 days 500 miles. But generally no. Check with the dealer before you buy. Chrysler has a return policy now, but you pay a big return and mileage fee.

In some places you can, my friend just recenlty purchased a car and she just decided that the payments were going to be way to much for her so after 2 days she took it back, and she purchased a cheaper car from another dealership altogether. I don't know how it works though, I mean if you need to have something in writing or not.

most cases no. I believe GM has an offer now that if you purchase a car from them and don't like it, change your mind or whatever, you can return it within 30 days minus some charges. but most car companies won't allow you to do that.

Well, if it's not agreed to in writing at the time of purchase then it depends on the local laws.

In Ohio, you have 72 hours to "change your mind" on capital expenditures and contracts. This includes cars. By law, if you return the car in the same condition before the 72 hours are up, they have to let you return it.

And get a refund? not in California. They put a stop to that, as WAY too many people were trying to return cars that they shouldn't have agreed to buy in the first place.

Dealers have a talent for getting you to buy too much car for your budget.
