I am a hunter, and I love the sport. I also feel strongly about the hunting laws as far as limits. I would hate to see an animal go on the endangered list because some idiot thinks it would be cool over hunt the animal.
Hunting is a great sport that everybody should enjoy once in their life.

I would call it a sport....those of you who say that hunting is not physical work.....try walking for miles through waste high grass, or dragging a dear a half mile to your truck, or running after coon dogs who have a critter up a tree...do not say it is not physical until you have done at least one of those. And as far as humane, I think it is a part of life....Deer for example, if hunting were not there to help stay the population we would have a major problem....People who hunt just for sport? I know many people who hunt and don't like the meat but, the always find people that do....There are many people who live off of hunting....Humane....how humane is it to raise a steer....take to a slaghter house....it is the same thing and I do not see as many people trying to stop that as trying to stop people from working for their meal. That kinda funny to me....

Every animal in the world hunts, why should we deny our natural instincts. The fact that we are more intelligent makes us more formidable predators. Humane is the ability to limit the suffering and utilize the kill and that is what we all strive for so yes it is humane. The definition of sport varies (even Olympic committees have trouble defining it) so by my definition, good exercise, challenging both mentally and physically, and loads of fun....yep it's a great sprot.

I hunt and eat what I kill. the cost of my tags that I actual ought to purchase is going to the DNR to assist safeguard wetlands, sport statement, and commonly used organic world administration. carry out slightly study on a state DNR website, they'll probably have some form of pie chart as to the position the money from licensing is going. maximum hunters are unsuccessful 80 5% of the time, so there isn't any assure you're going to fill your freezer besides. Like I tell my boys, i have sought for 30 years and that i see something new and exciting each and anytime i bypass into the woods, in spite of seeing deer or not. not something scares the residing crap out of you want a screech owl screeching rapidly above you in the tree at dusk.

The way it is now, I say not a sport. You do not have to be in any kind of shape to do it. All the fat guys just jump on their ATV's, head out to the woods and climb up their easy set up tree stands, harness themselves in so they can't even fall out of the tree and sit and wait. They have all the advantages with scents, lures, decoys, etc.
I will give you that it WAS a sport. Try lugging a dead buck home back in the day that you shot with a bow and arrow.
It is humane. Without us, most animals would have no natural predators. It is more humane to shoot a couple deer than to have them starving to death during the winter.

I hunt for food. It is not only humane, but it is nature. All animals hunt.
Hey Logan, want to go sit in the woods for hours in sub-zero temperatures and then drag a 300 lb deer two miles. Fat and lazy, my ***. I am 6' 5" and 210 lb, spent most of my life on my feet.

I myself could never do it. However, my dad is an avid hunter for sport and we all are entiltled to our beliefs. I would never look down upon my dad for hunting even though I MYSELF could never do it. I see the point that due to over population, more animals will suffer. I am open minded about it.

If you use everything from the animal - skin, meat etc. then it is fine.
If you hunt just for sport and don't use what you've killed, then it is inhumane.

well, theres a lot of places in the US where animals like deer would overtake whole cities if they arent thinned out. i'd much rather see an animal live as a wild and free being, kill or be killed, and die that way, than have to watch them starve because they're overpopulating. ask anyone who ever lived in michigan what its like there during hunting season. they're everywhere.
what i dont like is when hunters go out just to shoot something and cut its head off as a trophy. thats stupid in my opinion. my grandfather taught me a few things when i was younger.
"never point a gun at something unless you're gonna fire"
"never shoot at something unless you're gonna kill it"
and if its an animal
"theres no point in killing unless it saves your life, or feeds you and your family, otherwise its wasted effort, and you just spoiled next weeks meal".
and the ppl that have those rich guy hunts where you let the animal out of a cage and go after it when its 50 yards away....... thats just messed up. those guys are pathetic.
