A box is a way to get the very best wine without expensive packaging. The fact that "someone" told "you" that "boxed" wine is cheap or tacky does not make it so. Only the most expensive, exclusive restaurants should be serving bottled wine. Those mid-priced that are presumptuous and make a big production of serving wine are what we call tacky. These are the ones that can drop the act and serve wine from a box. Also corked bottles Will soon be a thing from the past.

NO!!! most "nice restaurant's" don't offer boxed wine so I suggest going to a local liquor warehouse and asking questions about different wines to get a feel for what you might like and perhaps buying a few bottles to try at home
so when you go to a restaurant you can choose wisely.
heres a tip wine doesn't have to be expensive to taste good there are some excellent wines in the 10-12 dollar range it just depends on what you like . And if the sommelier or waiter presents you with th cork don't trip its just for you to see if there is any mold on the cork

Only if you get the food to go, then eat it in the park with a nice jug of Chablis.
