Cats often get acne from...their food dishes! If you are using a plastic food dish, stop now and change over to a glass or a stainless steel dish. It's imposible to get plastic completely clean (even when you throw it in the dishwasher) and that's where bacteria accumulates that can actually transfer to your cat's chin. After all, would you want to eat off a plate that wasn't clean? Icky!
And if you try to rub the black stuff off the chin, you can irritate it so much it can start to bleed.
When this happened to my cats, I wondered about it and a lady I spoke to in the cat food aisle gave me this tip and it worked.
Give it a try. In the meantime, try GENTLY washing off the chin area with a damp, warm wash cloth to remove the build-up. You can put a little dab of vitamin E oil on it afterwards. It should take about a week or 10 days to clear up.
Hope this helps. Give Kitty a hug for me please!

Sometimes cats develop an allergy to plastic. If you have plastic feeding bowls or watering bowls change them to stainless steel and see if your cat's chin clears up. Make sure to clean them daily and if you must use soap rinse them even better than you would for yourself. Cats are extremely sensitive.
If the chin doesn't get better, it could be something like a staph infection the requires a vet's intervention.
Thank you for taking such good care of your cat.

My cat has the same thing and my cat looks almost like yours! My Junior is about 2, he is long haired orange with the white on his belly and chin. I think its from the bowl, its just dirt. I take a wet rag and wipe his face a few times a week cause its hard for them to clean the chin! I just keep an eye on it, I don't think its anything serious. Your kitty is very cute!!! :O)

It sounds like blackheads (acne) one of my four cats has it on his chin as well. The vet told me to comb the spot every day with a flea comb (it removes the blackheads and allows the pimple to heal) and she recommended only steel and ceramic bowls (the plastic bowls breed bacteria in the scratches that develop over time) - my vet also said that I could use Witch Hazel on his chin to help keep it clean. But honestly, I would check with your vet to make sure.

I am not a big fan of cats but I think it might have some sort of skin allergy. Have you changed the cats food recently? I would bring it to the Vet before it gets any worse.
Good luck!

The answer above me is scary hu? NE way I dont know I just read his answer and had to say something. What about ticks or Scabs. I would think scabs or gravel. Maby he got hurt and now it is scabed over or there is gravel in it. I hope your cat gets better. And I hope it ends up not being a biggy.

Could be a ringworm, or flea eggs. I would say ringworm, b/c I was checking on that not to long ago, and I read that ringworms leave black spots covering one section of skin. Normally around the base of tail, or chin. Good Luck.

It's ACNE! My cat, Babaloo, has the same problem, and the vet suggested using a stainless steel food dish. I don't know if it's really helped. There's also acne medication availible!
