My co-worker leaves her TV on 24/7 in the office for no apparent reason. I'm sick of hearing news anchors yap, yap, yap all day. I can't take it anymore!

What's a remote that I could get to make turn off or turn the volume down on her TV? The signal would need to go about 10 feet.. through a small wall (office divider).

It's not just a divider, it's an actual wall (6 inches thick) solid floor to ceiling wall.. so I can't aim it over anything.

There's no product that will do what you ask, at least not without installing a component in your co-worker's office. Since the TV would only operate on an IR remote signal, the remote sending the signal must be physically in the same room or at least within visual range of the TV. The only other option to control it from another room would be by using a remote extender. This is a device that takes the IR signal from a remote, converts it to RF which can then be broadcast through a wall to another RF receiver, converts back to IR where it is "seen" by the TV remote sensor. Here is an example of a remote extender:

YES there is a product that will do what you are asking. You need a pair of IR Pyramids. You can purchase these at radio shack for about $70 bux. You will just need them, and a regular universal remote that you will need to program to the TV. What you do is set one of the pyramids up in your room. and you need to put another one on the other side of the divider aimed at her TV. they are pretty small so you could probably put it somewhere over there without her knowing. You aim the IR remote at the pyramid in your room, that pyrymid converts the signal to UHF (RF) and then it the other pyramid in her room picks it up, converts it to IR, blasts it at her TV, and you are set...

Any universal television remote should work. Just aim it over the divider.

It is going to have to be an RF (Radio Frequency) remote, IR is just not going to cut it.

Do you think that you could stick with it, and wait until she goes into the birthing dock and then you will be rid of her?
