What is the law that says the voting day? Why is it not 2 days or something and why not on a weekend?

Most states offer an early voting period. In Tennessee the early voting period last for 15 days, including Saturday. Early voting begins 20 days prior to each election and ends 5 days before. That gives people plenty of time to vote.

I do think it would be best if voting took place over two days, however, it's true that it's difficult to get voters to vote on one day and we already have voter fraud and tampering and more days would allow for more of that.

I do believe the law is that elections are held on the first tuesday in november.

It is hard enough getting people to get out on one day. Two days would not make it better. If some body wants to exercise the duty to vote, they will. If they don't, you could give them a month and they won't.

Usually the date for any election is fixed by law.

States and counties usually try to hold their elections on the same day as federal elections, because it is more efficient than holding a separate special election.
